The shocks are different part #s for the sedan and wagon.

The rear moulding on the later cars is pretty wide and will not work with the earlier narrow moulding cars. If you have the mouldings and bumper shocks it will work. My daughters car is an 85 and I just swapped all of this stuff over from an 88. So if the 86 uses the later style wider mouldings then it will be a direct swap, if not you will need the wide mouldings and longer bumper shocks.
