speed sensor location on1989 760 turbo and tranny I. D.

Hello all,
Can someone tell me where the RPM sensor is located on my 760 Turbo? My 1990 245
is easy to find due to the fact that I had to replace it once. Does it have one?
Lastly, what is the difference between a AW-70L and a AW-71 and which is better?

Thank you

Bryan

A 1989 760T does not have a speed sensor since it has LH 2.2 Jetronic.

An AW-70L is the locking verion the Aisin-Warner transmission used in NA 240s and 740s. The AW-71 is the same basic transmission, but with changes for use between the B230FT (turbo). Both are fine versions of the same basic transmission. Neither is better.

The RPM sensor or the engine speed sensor should be located in the top of the bell housing in that car, actually bolted to the back of the engine block. Your car should be and LH 2.4 car and on an LH 2.2 car it would be mounted in the distributor.

Strange, I would have said LH2.4 didn't arrive on turbos until 1990.

Right you are, I was thinking of a 740, my bad. That being said your engine speed sensor should still be in the distributor at the back of the head.
