Power windows on my '87 240DL 200 1987

Hey guys,

I'm new here and am having big problems trying to modify my 1987 240DL. I really really want to put in power windows to replace the manual crank, but am going crazy trying to do it. I have the motor and regulator (entire apparatus) for the drivers side door, but still can't seem to get it to fit correctly. I'm not even sure as to exactly how the whole setup is oriented in the door (my main problem).

I don't think anyone would go through as much trouble as I am for this, so it probably hasn't been attempted by anyone else. However, does anyone have any pictures of their doors with the panels off so that it's clear how the motor and regulator are oriented, or could someone explain it to me? I have the wiring ready, all I need is to make it fit.

Thanks,

- Jim

It's not strange at all, lots of people have done this. I am assuming you have all of the wiring/switches/relay/door panels. The drivers regulator is fastened with three bolts and one nut. The holes for it should already be in your door. The motor sits at the bottom of the door about 2/3 of the way to the front. You should see 2 holes for the bottom 2 bolts in the door. The hole for the stud on the regulator is just behind the lever for the inner door handle. The 4th hole is in front of the door lever and a bit lower than the other top one. The regulator arms attach to the window the same way as the manual arms.

I do have a pic of a drivers door, but have never learned how to post it to this site. I can email it to you.

Could you please go ahead and e-mail that picture to me? I got a pretty good idea from how you explained it but just want to be sure.

Thanks
