Brand quality of rebuilt a/c compressors?? 200

After rooting through e-bay I found an outfit called; "A9STAR9A" based in Studio City Ca. who sells rebuilt 240 compressors for $115 and throws in 8 oz. of Pennzoil Ester Oil. Does anyone know about this unit, is it any good? better than Auto Zone, etc.

The outfit apparently has an excellent rating on e-bay and sells a number of models of compressors. I hear there are different grades to these rebuilds. Anybody??

Brand quality of rebuilt a/c compressors?? 200

I bought one from this same ebay seller for my 740 wagon last year.

I cleaned the lines, installed a new orfice tube & drier & used new seals everywhere. I pumped the system down for 1 hour & checked to see if it would hold pressure. Still at -28.5 mm after 10 minutes.

I began filling the system and noticed the AC clutch on the compressor making some noise but it evened out after the second can went in.

Nice cold air for about a month........ then driving home from work the compressor locked up an killed the engine. I coasted into a KMART parking lot, went inside & bought a knife, cut the belt & drove on home.

I have done several cars for friend since then with no problems so I don't think my install procedure was at fault.

I did notice his feedback was very positive & had lots of success stories.
Personally I wouldn't buy from them again. My rebuild from them was a rebuilt Diesel KIKI compressor which has a bad rap..search the archives here.

I would go with a NEW Sanden, Zexel or Seltec...my 2¢

Good Luck!
