Electric wire 700

I had to mend the 2 wires leadind to my fan blower motor so I could replace the 2 metal connectors.Since I didnt have the same type(gauge) of wire I used what
I had which is much thinner(black wire for the grouding of the antenna). I dont know anything about wire sizes...
Well the motor runs! My question is: Am I gonna have any kind of problem since I used a thinner wire? Where can I learn about wire gauge?
Tks

Go back in there and run two of the thin wires. That should solve any problem carrying more current than the wire can carry safely. Usually the problem will be one of heating. Can damage connectors, the things the wire touches, or - worst case scenario - fire.

    Good Luck,

You really should not be using "thinner" wire. It could overheat and melt the insulation and short out the connection if close to the chassis. It may be OK at low motor speeds but higher speeds draw more current. Also as these motors age and the armature and brushes wear they tend to also draw more current agrevating your problem. It's best to use the correct gage or if not possible use multiple wires of smaller gauge twisted together at the ends. Doesn't look good but will help.

You seem to know about electrical stuff!!! How do I determine the wire gauge I need? Should it be solid wire or stranded wire? Is there also a problem if I use "thicker" wire than required?
