1994 940T ignition cuts out on quick left turns or sharp curves to the left - ???????

What could be causing this. I recently replaced the crank position sensor, because it was cutting out intermittently; that problem has been corrected. I have not checked the back side of the ignition switch on the steering column, but I feel like it is something under the hood; something affected by the centrifugal force when turning left??????????? BTW, fuel level is OK.

Anyone have experience with this problem on a 940 Turbo????
Thanks in advance for any input.

Fife

1994 940T ignition cuts out on quick left turns or sharp curves to the left - ???????

Just dealt with something like that on my 1991 940 Turbo, and also on my dearly departed 89 740 Turbo
When I turned left of right and was less than 1/2 tank of gas it would stall. It would sit for about 30 seconds and then I could start it again.

The problem in my case is that the in tank fuel pump assmebly rotted out. In the 940 the ground wire that was soldered to the top of the assembly had come undone due to the rusted state. This left the main fuel pump (the one located in the middle of the car's undercarriage providing the fuel pressure alone. This waqs fine in December when I bought it and through spring. Now, that the temperature is warm it started to happen - first at about 1/2 tank, and then at about 1/2 tank.

The crappy part is that the assemby is usually corroded and the metal tubing that the flexible tubing connects to is either ready to break, or might break when you try and remove the assembly to check for a known problem (check the FAQ) of the rubber tube in the tank connecting the pump to the exit tubing deteriorating.

Long winded am I.

Replacement assembly is over $600 Cdn.

To tell if the in tank pump is working, check the cool diagnostic tricks in the FAQ.

Good luck!

John
