AMM part number, testing a cat

1989 B230F

I am looking at a used AMM for my car due to some continued idling problems... after addressing all the usual suspects listed in the FAQs. The one in the car has Bosch p.n. 02 80212016. Every one that I see listed (including on FCP Groton) refers to a 007 p.n. Can anyone tell me what the difference is and if the 016 is correct for this car? I do not know if the AMM was ever replaced before.

The second question... is there any way for a back yard mechanic to determine if a catalytic converter is funtioning properly?

Thanks!

Assuming you have LH2.4 like all 89 240s, the 016 is the correct one.

Maybe I am confused.... but I thought the '89 740 was the LH 2.2? Are both the 240 and 740 for '89 LH 2.4?

Thanks!

Don't know about your 740, but the '89 240 is LH 2.4.

I'd assume the 740 is too, If it has the OBD I module behind the left strut tower.
