Anybody running 205/70-14's on their 744? 700

Decided to rid myself of the old steel wheels, no balancing would help get the vibrations out of them :( No vibration with winter tires on, so it's likely the rims that are bad.

Thought I might spend a little, so I'm going to mount some new tires on them. The door sticker says 185/70-14, but that's awfully small. Thought of mounting some 205/70-14s.

What's the ride like with that dimension?

I have 205/70-14 on Corona rims on my '87 745T. Because I have no ABS, they fit and work just fine.

Ride will be smoother, as the greater sidewall will asorb the bumps. Handling will suffer a lot, though - the pitfalls of having a lot of tire sidewall and a tire that will be stretched somewhat to fill a narrower rim.

195/70/14 will be a more happy medium.
