Knock Sensor Location(s) & Speedo signal missing 900 1992

1992 960 Wagon w/172k miles

My "Check Engine" light came on last week. I checked the computer and received the code for a faulty FRONT knock sensor. I know where the rear one is. Does anyone know where the FRONT one is? I have checked my Chilton manual, but it does not show the location nor describe it.

Also, the code for "Missing Speedometer Signal" came up. Any ideas for tracking down that one? Pretty sure this is why the cruise control refuses to operate. The previous owner informed me that the dash was R & R'd by the dealer at about 50k to work on the A/C...hmmmmm.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Knock Sensor Location(s) & Speedo signal missing 900 1992

The front knock sensor is located just to the right of the oil breather box, it may be a pain to get to, unlike the back one that I changed on mine by just reaching under the intake with a 10mm small socket and extension.
When I replaced the front one I had the alternator and power steering off and out of the way so that I could change out the oil breather box, so I had no trouble at that point to get to the front sensor. You may have to get this one from under the car and you should spring for the rear one at the same time. I belive they run about 40 bucks each from FCP Grotton and you will tell a difference in the power of the car once they have been replaced.
When replacing these two sensors I belive Dewfpo said that the wire hookup should be replaced in the same oreintation that from which it was removed.
You should also have some thread lock(green colored for elec sensors Auto zone) on the bolts and tourque no more than
    11 ft lbs, fairly light.
    Hope that helps
    Poolman
