i have an 89 240dl sedan. i've come across all the great information that is posted on the 700 series FAQ regarding transmission maintenance, flushing, etc. is it too much of a stretch to think that this same information could apply to my transmission? specifically, flushing, power flush, change fluid, etc. several of the questions in the FAQ are very similar to my experiences with my brick.

The info in the 700/900 FAQ would apply to your car as well.
The transmissions are the same.
