Something drains my battery. I just got the alternator changed and a new battery. The car sits there.Then i start it ,runs fine...suddenly dies at the stop. I crank, the starter but i hear click-click...My neighbourg boosted the car,but the second we unplug the cables,car dies..damn..what could it be?

    update: i recharged the battery and took the car to my mechanic.Apparently the alternator(rebuilt) isnt charging.Some lights missing on key position #2, overdrive fuse keeps blowing.
    I just bought a saab 92x aero to replace this 240,its a pain i am getting this problem at the moment i had a buyer test driving it!!

    First things first you need to figure out why the alternator is not charging. The battery is stone dead because it is not charging and it won't stay running with the battery disconnected because it is not charging. There are only three wires going to that alternator, the fat red B+, the skinny red D+, and the ground cable. Make sure that the ground is good, that the D+ red wire has 12 volts coming down it while the engine is running. If all of this checks ok then I recommend you get your money back on your alternator and buy a Bosch rebuilt alternator. Check this stuff out first, get your battery back on the trickle charger and let us know what you find.

    Maybe the alternator didn't get connected properly? Do you get the usual warning lights on when the key is in postion II?
