What are the original colors for valve cover and air cleaner? 140-160

I'm detailing the engine on a 74 164 and the valve cover has a gold residue while the air cleaner is silver. What are the correct colors?

The valve cover and some other parts are sort of a satin or non-polished
chrome but many of them I have found with a gold-colored protective varnish
on them. If it is continuous and looks good, keep it. If not, paint stripper
will take it off. All the 140s/164s that I have dealt with had black plastic
air cleaner boxes, except one "E" that had a black pressed steel can.

On my 1975 they are both black, painted. Just like in the pictures. The 1972 had what looks like a polished aluminum air cleaner, the pics show a black valve cover. Pics are all black and white. They wouldn't have made the valve cover out of copper, would they?

My 1975 164 has a blck air cleaner and a chromish, gold valve cover. i can only be lead to think that it was "chrome" at one time and has since flaked and discolored
