Exhaust; Bosal vs Starla vs OEM Volvo 700

The good, the bad and the ugly...

Most suppliers carry either STARLA or BOSAL.

Which aftermarket system lasts longer, and how did it compare to the original brand.

Either one not properly fit / need to be modified to fit your 740T, 760, 940T?

Leaf,

I've used all three, of the two aftermarket, Bosal would be my choice. As I recall Bosal made(or still makes)some Volvo OE exhaust components. I replaced my son's 245Ti cat back about six years ago. The axle, tail pipe and muffler were Bosal, the supplier only had Starla for the intermediate pipe. After two years the Starla pipe had rusted through, the Bosal pieces were good for another 3 years. The Bosal pipes seemed heavier and looked better made than the Starla. I replaced the entire system recently and went all Bosal. Just my $.02

Unlike almost all other parts, the OEM system is very reasonably priced. Get one from Bortons or Swedish Engineering for not much more than aftermarket. Guaranteed, fits perfectly, easy to install, and lasts a long time.

Although a little more pricey, the OEM replacement system comes with a lifetime warranty on both mufflers. If your not planning on owning the car for more than 3 years go for one of the aftermarket systems and save some money. I can't help on which is better since I have an oem system on my car. I have gotten 3 free mufflers from Volvo over the last 10 years.
