Had my shocks replaced. NOw I hear a pop when I make a turn moving slow to the right 700

I am not sure what this is. The garage I took it to replaced my shocks on both front sides and the ball joint on just the passenger side.

Now when I am backing out and swing the wheel to the right or when driving slow and make a turn I hear like a "pop" , "twang" or a "quick clunk" from the driver side wheel. It almost sounds like something is popping into place. Its real quick. Kinda sounds like some tension is built up then relieved by the pop.

If I drive slowly and throw the wheel top to the left and right in an erratic style (like a crazed lunatic for example) I hear it go pop, pop, pop or clunk clunk clunk as I do this on the driver side. Its under the front driver side wheel where this is happening. It does not happen on the right side just the left.

What is wrong?

Thanks

JP

I have heard of this "popping" as being the sway bar bushings or endlinks allowing some movement after the installation of front struts. Our mini-van makes that noise occasionally when turning the wheel very tightly to get into the garage (end loader garage). I need to check them for wear.....we did just recently get front struts...

I once took my 240 into a tire and brake shop for new struts. When I made my first turn out of the shop, I got a terrible kluncking sound in the front end. I immediately returned to have it checked and discovered that the mechanic hadn't bothered to tighten the upper bolts on the struts. I'd take it back and have it checked.

BTW, this wasn't the end of my problems. Several weeks later, I applied the brakes as I was exiting an expressway and had the brake pedal go all the way to the floor and the brake light come on. I took it to nearby brake shop and they repaired a broken brake line. Several weeks later, the same thing happened on the other side of town near my home. I took it to the brake shop around the corner and asked them to take a look at the problem. They called me back and suggested that I bring a camera with me. Upon close inspection, they discovered that the problem with the brake line resulted from the brake line bracket being hack sawed off of the strut housing. Without any support, the brake line was destined to fail. I took the pictures to the origianl shop to show them what they had done to my car. They just shrugged it off and refunded the cost of labor and the extra repairs. I haven't gone back to that chain since for anything.

Just replaced Ole Reliable's left upper ball joint .... it was doing exactly what you describe before replacement .

My old 740 (RIP) did this so I had the ball joints and bushings replaced. Still did it. I then had new strut inserts installed, and it quit. I did not install new strut mount bearings (this is recommended, I believe).

May be that the installer missed something.
