Accesory guage lighting not working! 200 1983

I have a 1983 244 turbo with the oil temp, clock, turbo, var and volt guage set up. Non of them light up at night after trying to repalce three bad bulbs. I'm thinking that I must have pulled a ground wire loose, but I'm not sure and really frusteraded that a five minute job has turned into a coulple hour job! Thanks and happy bricking.

I fixed it. It turns out that the dash light dimmer switch was faulty. I replaced it with one from a 87 and the dash lights now work. Thanks again for the advice and happy bricking. I was looking at that part and was surprised at to how it would fail, but after 23 years I guess it has a right to.

The interior light dimmer located above the headlight switch controls the instrument cluster lights as well as the center console lights, and the auto tranny shift position indicator if you have an auto tranny.

If all the above are out, the dimmer is most certainly bad, or disconnected.

Dimmers do go bad. Can be bypassed with a jumper wire at the back or the dimmer, or replace from a junker. Maybe also available from fcpgroton.com

These are an old-fashioned variable resistor.
