Ground Straps? 900 1994

Hi all-

I have a 94 940 Turbo. It had a rough idle, so when I was diagnosing it I noticed that the two woven wire straps that go from a black plastic box on the firewall directly behind the motor were disconnected. It looks like maybe they were once connected to the valve cover on the back two valve cover nuts, but I can't tell for sure and I can't find a photo anywhere. It looks like someone changed the valve cover gasket and left the wires off.

So my questions are: (1) where do these wire straps attach? and (2) what is the black plastic box on the center of the firewall that they come from?

And by the way, the rough idle was a leaking intake manifold gasket.

Thanks!

1) On my '93 940na, they connect to the 2 rear VC bolts.

2) I believe that object is just a "dead weight" to muffle or eliminate resonant vibration.
