Bleeding a CIS system 200 1979

A friend just bought his first Volvo, a 1979 244 DL. The first thing he did was service it and replace the fuel filter. Now he can’t get it started. I suggested that he bleed the system at the filter outlet, but still no go. What is the best way to bleed the air out of a CIS fuel injection system?

If you make the fuel pump run it'll "bleed" itself. The car has a loop system from the gas tank and back. The fuel re-circulates continually when the fuel pump is running. Try jumpering it at the fuse panel and let it run for a couple of minutes. This will push any air back into the fuel tank.

I would improvise a line from the fuel return, where hose from FD connects to the hard line.

Then run the pumps by jumping +12 to the left (input) side of fuse #5. You can pick +12 from the left side of any fuse 6 thru 10.
