Paint formulas 1800

I am soon to have the 1800 painted!! The fellow doing the painting is wondering about what is being used out there for Code 46 - RED. I want to keep the color as close to original as possible. Keep in mind that this information will be passed on to a professional, so don't be afraid to get technical.

Thanks

    Paint formulas 1800

I'd say it'd be easiest just to head to your local auto paint store, give them your code, and have them mix up a gallon or so for you... I'd think that would be cheaper than buying a little bit of this, a little bit of that...etc. mixing paint properly requires the proper equipment to do right...

You might be able to get the folks to give you a printout of the exact formula they used so you can keep it on file for future reference... I got a copy of that when I had my Jaguar painted.... now if I could only find the damn thing... I got more bits that need paint, and I don't remember the code...

    Try this link: http://www.glasurit.com/COLOR/COLOR-Search/index.html

Itīs the mixing color database of Glasurit paints. Glasurit is available worldwide.

Volvo manufacturer code is VOL, red colour code is 046, no need to fill the rest of fields.

You can obtain three recipes for that color: paintline 22, similar to the original on 60īs and 70īs, it contain lead (probably some restriction of use on US due the lead), 55 is lead free, and 90 is two layers style (best look, but hard work on repairing scratches). More info about it on the Glasutit web site.

Print the mixing tables (the recipes) and hand it to your painter. Surely he know the local Glasurit shops.

btw: I use paintline 22 on my red 121 (but with a bit of more brightly Ferrari red, a tip of hat to my heritage).

    Happy volving,
