Blinkers will not blink 200 1988

I am trying to chase down this problem. The relay works, I see and hear it click but the yellow wire has no power while the white wire dose.
(1)How dose power get from the fuse to the blinkers?
On the blinker stalk the only wires the have any curruent to them is the brown wires (headlights) the others have no power to them. On the hazard switch, only the green/white and white wire has power but I didnt check the black wires.
(2)One more thing, on the relay the hammer(?) stays in contact with the plate(?). Shouldnt move back and fourth to make the clicking and blink the blinkers? Sorry if this is very confusion, I know it is to me.

Thanks,
Ace

The turn signals and the emergency flasher system use the same flasher relay.

Do the emergency flashers work? If yes, the problem is not that relay.

If no, then replacing the relay is in order.

On that relay, the white wire brings power to it, and the yellow wire takes pulsating power to both the turn signal stalk and the emergency hazard light switch.

If you have power on the white wire but nothing at all on the yellow wire, the relay is at fault.

The relay used in the 240 is the same for all, 1975 to 1993. Find a few in a JunkYard, one should work.

Good Luck,

Bob

Is it possable to cross the white and yellow wires to make the blinkers work. The reson I ask is I had the police warn me about me not haveing working blinkers.

You mean connect the white wire where the yellow wire is, and the yellow where the white is?

White wire at its proper connection provides power that operates the relay coil and the blinker lights themselves.

So connecting the yellow wire, which brings no power, to that place results in no lights at all. No coil, no lights. The white wire, which has power, connects to a inside contact that is a dead end unless the coil operates.

You might find a replacement relay at AutoZone or a similar place.

Good Luck,

Bob

Not positive but I would think that they will not blink, they will stay on constantly.

Bypassed 200 1988

I bypassed the relay by useing a small pieace of wire and put it on the relay and pluged it in half way. Your right Tony, they do stay on all the time but I can just move the stalk up and down till I get a relay. Thanks all for the help.

Thanks,
Ace
