Change timing belt. Cooling system maintenance is critical for the turbos. Drain and flush the cooling system. Refill w/ fresh antifreeze mix. If cooling passages in the block corrode and close up the head will warp and the gasket will fail. Replace the heater control valve. Remove and clean the throttle body and air bypass valve. Spray brake cleaner works very well. Remove and clean the oil trap under the intake manifold. Replace the o-ring. Clamp any loose vacuum line connections.

    - Check all of the turbo hoses for leaks, holes etc.
    - Ensure PCV is free. (blow through PCV tube with oil cap off and there should be little resistance).
    - Check very carefully all of the water lines including heater hoses near firewall and ones supplying turbo.
    - if rad is original, it could be on borrowed time. Have a look at the inlet side (where top rad hose comes in) and verify fatigue of plastic.
    - belts etc.

Have a look in the FAQ for more stuff.
