IAC Valve leaking Oil 700 1989

760T - Oil is leaking from the IAC -- appears to be coming out of the IAC through the connector. Is is safe to assume that if oil is leaking then certainly air is leaking too? If so, anyone that has rebuilt these are there seals available for replacement -- or is it best based on this symptom to replace rather than rebuild. As for functionality, the IAC is working fine.

The turbos will blow a little oil as they age and the IAC motor shaft seal also wears and starts to allow some leakage. The valves are tricky to take apart without damageing the brushes. Try spraying some elec contact cleaner in the connector socket to clean it out but the leak will get worse.

Thanks. I take it that oil leaking means that air is also leaking past the seal?

Yes but not enough to make any difference. If you take the IAC out and flip it back a forth you should hear the valve device flop around. If not take some spray brake cleaner and spray the heck out of it 'til it frees up.

There should be little oil in the IAC, so you've got an intake system problem. Check the flame trap for any excessive oil blowby. Since the IAC should be a closed system, look at the hoses for cracks.

Thanks. Had recently cleaned Flame trap, replaced "clogged" small hose to Intake Manifold and hardened (likely leaking) PVC hose to Turbo AMM Intake hose. Also cleaned IAC. However, I went ahead and re-cleaned the IAC as I had cleaned it weeks before the blowby problem was discovered and corrected.

In addition, I inspected the IAC hoses, no cracks; however, they were not making tight connections at the IAC due to expansive aging. Went ahead and replaced both hoses. Will monitor IAC for any additional oil leakage.

Thanks again!
