Windshield trim '93 245 200 1993

Good day, Brickboarders,

I have a metal trim (could be aluminum) around my windshield (1993 model 245) which is losing it's black paint. Rather than try and scrape the balance of black paint off, can I remove this trim or does it serve as a windshield retainer.

All advise on how to deal with this issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Morton

is this the trim which touches the window glass on the outside of the vehicle and has a viewable edge of about 1/4"

that part wraps around the windshield edge and has a groove for the seal to hold onto from the inside

BTW the clip at the bottom of the windhield gasket should stays in place and not slide around, if it does it may cause a leak - a loose or removable clip is an indicator that the previous installer has done the job incorrectly - the part many installers screw up on is that the clip goes in place before the windshield is put into the car
