Just bought and registered my new 244!!! 200

Thanks for your help guys!
I found the right 240 for me! I bought a well-cared for and maintained 1991 240 with 216,000 on it. However it does have a few problems that need to be tended to:
1.I get a whole bunch of racket and what sounds like "over starting" when I start the car up, that must signal a new starter. Hopefully it can last 2 months or so until I can replace it.
2.The gas gauge doesn't work, but I'm afraid to pull out the dashboard cluster in this car and disconnect the speedometer sensor connector! If I disconnect the (which means I have to break that plastic retaining piece in the back.) retainer, will the speedo and odometer still work? Or will I have to do something else to make it work if I disconnect it?
-Also with the gas gauge:If it's not the chip in the back of the dashboard cluster, what could it be?
3.The horn doesn't work, and the fuse for it is ok? Uh why is this horn not working?
4.Finally, the car makes a weird "thunk" if you hit a pothole. Does that mean it needs a new strut or balljoint or......... . . . . . . . . . .?

Besides those four things, the car totally rocks! Very very minimal rust, which is GREAT for a New England car and it runs and drives like a dream! Thanks guys!

I can answer your clunk when you hit a pot hole. Sounds like the control arm bushings are going bad.

Mine did the same thing when they went bad.

As far as the fuel gauge goes chances are very good that its the fuel sending unit and not an instrument cluster problem.

I have an 81, so your mileage may vary, but I just broke the ring on my speedo and it's fine. 81s are mechanical, 90s are electronic. I have never heard anyone mention this as a problem.
The starter can overstart if the key isn't returning smoothly to the
II position. They don't give a lot of trouble, since they don't have
a huge engine to turn over.
The gas gauge is probably the last thing to check. It is most likely
    the wiring to it.
