Wasserpumpenmann strikes again... 900 1993

...it was not the newly installed water pump that was leaking, it was the lower radiator hose, where it connects to pump. Leak was on bottom side of hose connection to pump, not seen until plastic shroud under rad/engine removed making inspection upwards possible.
Old pump had grooves/ridges on inlet connection, whereas new has smooth surface. Old hose had permanent indentations due to this which made it leak despite clamp being really tight. Anyway, the hose was probably original in this ´93, so was time to replace it anyway.

Hope this info might be useful

    Wasserpumpenmann strikes again... 900 1993

I'm chasing a slight leak of radiator fluid under the front of the engine. I recently replaced the hoses, waterpump, and radiator. I assumed it was the waterpump, but haven't gone into it yet. Your diagnosis gives me hope that mine, too, is just the hose clamp.

    So is it a 940 or 960?

    Thanks,
    Robert

That is quite helpful. I remember having a similar leak after replacing a pump. I thought I had tightened the clamp well, but it needed some extra. I was oblivious to an impression made on the inside of the hose, only concerned to keep the clamp in the same spot.
