No Headlights 200

1986 240 sedan, M46, ca. 285000 miles.
Suddenly no low beams, high beams flash but don't stay on. Parking and turn signal lights work.
I thought that I would check the headlight switch and stalk switch.
My Bentley's didn't have the fuse info for headlights, are they fused?
Thoughts?
TIA

Check ground wire screwed to on steering column, just forward of the turn signal/hi beam/lo beam switch. Our '86 240 had brights only, due to ground wire screw came detached at that location. This ground also served the horn. If you're a pacifist who never angers, you may never know that your horn is not working!.

BTW, on our '86 the Headlight Relay is located low on the drivers's side firewall (interior). You might not need to look under the floor hump.

    Main Headlight Relay? 200 1986

I doubt it's the switch. Since the Headlight relay was introduced in '86, the switch carries much less current and lasts much longer.

My bet is the HL relay, which on the '86 is sort of buried under the "hump" on the left side of the driver's floor. With luck, you migh be able to just fish it up and out by the wires.

It's the only relay down there with a Red/Green wire. I think your wiper delay relay is in the same (sometimes damp) place.

my bet would be the rotary headlight switch... sounds like the stalk is working fine, as is the relay if it works when you flash 'em.
