vacuum check valve 700

Is the Black and White Vacuum Check Valve a "standard" part, i.e. not a Volvo only part? If so, who makes it and what part number?
Thanks
R

FCP Groton has the "booster check valves" for about $12.00 ea, I believe. They are OEM part made by ATE. Replace them both since you have turbocharger, if one is toast the other is probably not far behind. You probably could find/use an inline check valve from any car as long as it has the right fittings and you orient it correctly. Good luck, rcs

Thanks- Looks like it's time to put on order together- might as well get the A/C changeover kit, too.

For the '89 760 (however appears it's a common check valve) it's Volvo Part Number 9485451 retail $32.00. IPD also sells for $19.50. Here's the link:

Thanks, but I was hoping it was a something I coud get from a car parts place, that is used on other cars. An order of just this part isn't worth it, and my vents are flapping under boost, so I need to get it now.

Try removing the faulty valve and flushing it liberally with hot water in both directions. I did this a couple of years ago with the one in my '86 and it's worked fine ever since. At least it could hold you over until you get a replacement.

Mine did not seal in one direction blowing into it before the flush, but was fine afterwards.

Thanks- I'll give it a hot bath today. Nothing lost if it doesn't work afterwards...

Do you guys have any tricks for getting those valves off? Mine seem to be stuck pretty tight in those little rubber hoses. I was wondering if there is some kind of chemical I could use to loosen them up.

I used a curved pick and gently worked it around the perimeter of the hose to get it off. I would be reluctant to use silicone as silicone can destry an oxygen sensor.

Wish I knew, too. I'm going to replace the hoses along with the valve. They're so stiff I can't get the valve out.

LOL... At least it's very comforting to know you're not the only one in the same situation :-D
