HAd no spark problem on 1982 with chrysler volvo ignition. Gave up and replaced with point type distributor.HAve new problem with cold Start. Air control valve was closed. probably because it is controled through the ecu which is not connected since I have a point type distributor. Im wondering if I could replace the air control valve with a auxillary air regulator which I understand is closed with a bimetalic streip

You'll definitely have better luck posting this one in the 240 section... If/when you do so, also make note of which injection system you have. Seems the cutoff was somewhere in the middle of '82 where they changed from Kjet CIS to the newer electronic system...

Points distributor in a 240? I've never heard of the like.
