At 200k Should I... 900

Since I just turned 200k ('92 940 NA), should I change the Flame Trap Beather Box (Flame Trap & Hose was changed 2 years ago) and clean out the IAC & Throttle Body? If yes to all, is the box ez with the manifold on? I know I need a new o-ring.

I not concerned about the IAC & throttle body as much as the breather box. Not sure if I want to get down there and play with it. May cause more harm then good...

      My .02$ 900

I totally agree with what Herb said about your breather box. Test it for obstruction first before going after it. My car has 252K and the breather has never been out.

Use the procedure in the 700/900 FAQ. Here it is from memory... Remove flame trap and attach hose to lower flame trap hose which goes to breather box. Or alternatively you could remove this lower hose (can be a b*tch to get back on however!) and attach the hose directly to the top of breather. Remove oil cap and blow through hose. If you can feel any air at oil cap your breather is still okay...

IMO - The throttle body is good maintenance. However, I would only do the IAC if you felt it needed it. Why fix what's not broke? You could be opening up a can of worms! Same with the breather....

    At 200k Should I... 900

    Hello:

Test the breather box as per the 700/900FAQ with a piece of hose. If it appears unobstructed, don't bother, IMO.

The IAC and throttle body cleaning are a must and can be done quite easily. Don't get carb cleaner in the throttle position switch or the IAC electrical components. Otherwise, these are simple jobs. For the throttle body a children's toothbrush works very well (please clean it carefully before giving it back to the child!).

    Good luck!

watch out for the spray tube on the TB cleaner can! 900

I did this with my 1990 740 last year. You know the thin red tube that allows you to direct the spray from the cleaner? Well it shot off and vanished inside my intake manifold. I had to remove the TB and fish the thing out. Just a warning. Cleaning was easy despite that "little" issue.
