Question for those who have done Z22-> AW71 700

Just finished installing the AW71 in a 1986 740 n/a using the instructions in the FAQ. Remaining questions I have are-

1)For doing the wiring-It says in the FAQ that i should find 2 unused plugs in the relay/fuse box area. 1 for the solenoid wiring and 1 for the overdrive switch wiring and that the colors should match the shifter wiring colors. I have the fuse box/relay tray removed and can find no unused plugs. The only unused wire (that has a different end on it form the other plugs is a gray/red stipped wire. Should all 1986 740's be pre-wired for OD?

2)There is nothing in the FAQ instructions (on trans swaps) about how to wire the OD relay. Does someone have this info?

3} What is the minimum wiring that needs to be done if one always wants to use OD and doesn't care about being able to shut OD off?

Question for those who have done Z22-> AW71 700

Well, in response to #3, the bare minimum would be to wire the solenoid up to a source that is energized with the key in 'on' position. If I were you I'd use a relay energized by an existing switched circuit to switch the power to the solenoid, I'm not sure how much current that draws but may be enough that if you piggybacked it onto an existing fused circuit you'd be blowing fuses. As for the other questions, I'm a bit out of my depth, but I am sure you could use a 240 o/d wiring harness & relay, as I recall it's pretty well independant of the rest of the wiring harness & it gets you around trying to tie into the sockets in the existing fuse/relay panel.
