Looking to buy a 1983 245 dl , currently own a 1984 244gl 200

I recently purchased a 244gl 1984 , I have put a little work into her and I love her. Problem is she is a automatic and 4 door. I need a stick and a little more cargo room. SO the woman keeps her !

I scouted a 1983 245dl 4 speed manual asking 600$ 180,000 second owner. I am fairly familar with 200 series mid eightes . However I have only worked on 244 model s ..

I know that 83/84 are the only two years for some of the parts of these beauties.(ignitions lh 2.1 )

MY QUESTIONS ARE! How much different is the 245 1983 gl from a 1984 244gl , other than the obvious body style. And are there any precautions to look for that differ from typical 1983-84 200 volvos. (wiring relays, etc.)

NE advice helpful , Also i have never driven an stick volvo , any advice to look for faulty parts appreciated.

You'd think you were working on the 244, till you looked up and saw all that rooooooom !! Same !!

Non driver fault, slipping clutch....start slow at the bottom of a hill in top gear, floor it , and see if it sort of tries, or really moves up the hill. If it slips, you'll know it. Same as an auto when it's out of juice.

    Enjoy the stick.
