Hello. Turns out that the 1987 240DL sedan with auto transsmission is going to need a new overdrive solenoid. I tested wiring to within a few inches of solenoid and there was electric so I believe solenoid itself is bad and has to be replaced. From Volvo solenoid is $280 !! Any suggestions for a less expensive alternative ?? Where to get ? Brand ? I see on E Bay ones for $69.00 & $99.00 . Are these any good ? Reputable Sellers ? As always your advice & opinions are most appreciated. Thanks.

I tried a couple of the no-name brand overdrive solenoids back when I first opened my shop and had such miserable luck with them that I use only factory Volvo solenoids. They cost a lot more but they work. If you do not mind not being able to toggle the overdrive on and off with the switch you can modify your old solenoid so that it will go into O.D. everytime.
