update on the problem from earlier 700

So I put a new valve gasket on and put new wires on. Now the thing won't even start. It wants to back fire but can't even do that. Any ideas? thanks

so I finally got hold of my brother-in-law and asked him what he thought was wrong with the car. First off he asked me how fast I was going when I lost power and what kind of ping I was hearing. So he told me how valves will let go and said I probably put a hole in the piston. Now I am looking for another car to get back to arizona. I found a 240 that I will look at today since I can take the next two days and strip all the parts off this car and if I need them later on I can use them. Thanks again guys for your help and thanks brickboards for the great info. Hopefully I will be jumping in of the 240 side of things now.

I doubt you put hole in the pistone. This is non-interference engine.
My money is on sticky valves, or carbon build-up.

I am suspecting a problem in the distributor area.

Did you do a compression test? I think it can be done without it running.

no I haven't done that yet, I am in the process of changing the plugs. #1 was normal but #2 had oil on it leading me to believe it is due to the problem from last night. I haven't changed the back 2 yet. I think it is time to let the car go. I am sick of playing this game. Anywho thanks everyone for your help
