Where is my 85 240 Flame Trap ? 200 1985

Can someone please help me locate the flame trap on my 85 244?

I feel so stupid.
I have three Volvo's and no problem finding the flame trap on the other two cars.
This one has me stumped...

Thanks,
Dale

That little rascal is in the deep dark spot under rail #3 and #4 of the intake manifold.

Use a flashlight after dark and follow the small vacuum hose from the intake manifold downward between those rails - oops, maybe it runs between #2 and #3.

Or - locate the large vacuum hose connecting to the intake air hose on its rearward side. (The front side hose goes to the IAC.) You will need to follow it with your right hand around the back of the intake manifold and below it to where it connects to the flame trap holder.

Beginning with the 1988's the B230F has a taller oil separator box, different hoses and flame trap holder, and the trap can be accessed from the top. Service is a 15 minute job. Converting your 1985 would be a DIY, junkyard job, and worth the effort.

Good Luck,

Bob

Thanks for the information Bob!

Is there a metal disc I should remove in the flame trap?

Basically the same spot as the others. Left side of the engine between ports 3 and 4 of the intake manifold.
