'93 245: I drained ATF ...how many quarts should I replenish?? 200 1993

I used drain plug on auto tranny pan to drain...wondering how many quarts I should add to get close? Car was cold when I drained...been sitting all night. Thanks,

    I figure that draining & replacing four or five times will suffice.

      that is the way i change my oil it leaks out fast enuf add quart every 1000km.

    You've only drained the ATF from the pan. Total capacity is 9 quarts - most of it in the torque convertor and valve body. Flush it!

    If your intent was to change your atf fluid you really should do a flush as described in faq section. That way you would be changing all your atf fluid not just whats in tranny pan. However to answer your question aprox. 2 1/2 quarts was/is in tranny pan. Add 2 quarts. Check. Then add more in small increments(say 6 to 8 ounzes) if needed. Do not overfill. Check while idling after having driven aprox. 1/2 hour. Use top portion of dipstick. Hope this helps.
