164 clutch & flywheel 140-160

I have a customer with a 70 164 who wants to install one of our aluminum flywheels and performance clutch setups. We have used essentially the same setup on all models from the 544, 140, 240, 740 etc., but not the 164, and I don't have a clutch and flywheel to measure.

Assuming the same 6 bolt crank pattern and same flywheel ring gear as other models, our normal AL flywheel will fit. The question is the throwout ( release ) bearing.
Our AL flywheel is not as thick as the stock b20 flywheel, so we use a longer throwout bearing to compensate. Not knowing how thick the combination of 164 flywheel and 164 pressure plate is compared to a 140 B20 combination, I don't know how long the throwout bearing will have to be to compensate for any differences.
The customer is going to be doing his own installation and does not have the car apart yet, so he can't provide the measurement.
Can anyone help in comparing the dimensions on the 140 B20 flywheel and clutch to the 164 B30 flywheel and clutch?

Without measuring I can tell you that a B30 flywheel is about an inch bigger
in diameter than the B20, and the clutch likewise. The input shaft is
bigger and (I think) longer. Both are standard dimensions, however
and I believe some Chevys will use the same clutch as the B30.
Naturally you could bolt a B20 flywheel and clutch up but the input
shaft would not go through the B20 clutch plate. Worse, the ring gear
doesn't stick out far enough to engage the starter so you'll have to
push start it every time. (You could reduce weight somewhat by leaving
    the starter off......)

The best bet, if he INSISTS on a lighter flywheel (which will give better
acceleration but NOT more horsepower) why doesn't he just take it to a
machine shop and get some machined off the face? While I was
in Panama and installing a Chevy clutch that was more than 3/4" too thick
to clear, I took 1/8" off the front face as a start to being able to bolt
it together. I also had to reverse the throwout fork to get the pinch
bolt on the back side, put a 1/8" shim between the bellhousing and the block
and do some trimming of the clutch adjusting studs and miscellaneous parts
inside the bellhousing including the throwout shaft bosses. It was one
solid clutch and eventually the crank arm that was welded onto the throwout
shaft started moving independently as the weld began to fail.
I'm back to diaphragm clutches now and they are OK. I sold my lightened
flywheel to somebody who was hurting for any old B30 flywheel a year or so
ago. Don't remember who got it.

E-mail me if you REALLY need dims - I have one in the garage.

I've got a 164 flywheel rusting in my side yard. I'll
measure it when I get home.

Sorry -- It took me longer than I though to do my taxes. Sigh.

I may make a mess of this and post a couple of messages. Hopefully
      one of them will work...

I appreciate the effort but could not make out the overall diameter.
At least we know it looks like a B20 flywheel.

I put another picture up using another tape measure that has easier
to read numbers on it. It must have known I was looking for it because
yesterday the tape measure was hiding.

The key issue is whether the outside diameter is actually larger than on the B20 engines, rather than just the clutch disc being a larger diameter.
I have gotten different reports on this.

The outside diameter is bigger on the B30 flywheels, it will not fit.
