960 questions 900 1997

Hi all - Couple questions...

Does the "Abe Crombie Tuneup Solution" apply to my 97 960? I'm not experiencing any particular issues, but I do a fair amount of around-town driving, and it seemed like a preventative thing. So besides seeming a bit of an extreme thing to do, I'm pretty sure I'd hit 4500rpm long before 55mph in L. Thoughts?

Also reading some prior posts regarding the "hot air" coming into the air filter box. Again, not experiencing any particular problems (and not that interested in reengineering the air intake system), but I would like to know how to check to see if that thermostat is properly routing hot and cold air.

Thanks

1a) Yes
1b) Wait till the trans shifts into 2nd gear and your above 20 mph then put the trans in "L", it will stay in 2nd gear at this point. Now take it to 55 mph or 4,500 rpm.

2) After a drive, open the hood immediately and feel the airbox, if it's hotter than the ambient air, your airbox thermostat is busted. It will be obvious.
