So my reverse lights are stuck on. Boy are they bright.

M47 trans.

I have not touched the wiring in the rear end of the car, so I am not sure what could be up. The bulb failure light is not on either.

Either your reverse switch (side of tranny) is faulty or you've got insulation worn off a wire from it, probably where it enters the car by the shifter. Either way a relatively easy fix, depending on the tools at your disposal it may be easiest to get at the switch by dropping the tranny crossmember for easier access. Try unplugging the harness from the switch, if lights go out it's the switch.

Sweet. I'll leave the bulbs out till this weekend and pull the switch then.

Just don't back up on a public roadway with no B/U lights.
Especially if you see any law enforcement nearby.

learnt at an early age to always check for presence of law enforcemant before braking the law!!!
