Seeking advice for rebuilding a proportioning valve 900 1994

I found that the brake fluid is seeping out from proportioning valve. I'm planning to change brake fluid soon, so I'd like to rebuild the valve at the same time. Is there anything that I should know in advance other than what's written in FAQ?

Vern, when you get this figured out, kindly write it up for the FAQ.

You need to check and make that the switch is not what is leaking.

Even if you could buy the O-rings (I can't, don't know where to get), most of the valves that I've taken apart have been pitted and beyond repair. It's a pretty good bet that if it's leaking, it's a goner. This is my experience, others may have a different opinion.

Oh, you think he means the distribution block? 900 1994

The proportioning valves are generally trouble free, living just in front of the rear axle.

Yep, you're right, old age strikes again. In the words of that late, great satirist Lewis Grizzard, "If love was motor oil, I'd be about a quart low". Just scratch "love" and insert "attention span" and you have me.

That is until they rust through & spit out their springs... Love our Nova Scotia climate. But do the 940s use them? I thought most if not all 940s had ABS & didn't have proportioning valves per se. Not sure, I've only worked on a few myself & I don't remember.

Sorry guys, it was 'reducing valve', not p-valve 900 1994

according to the Volvo official parts catalog I have. And yes, my 960 is w/ abs and didn't make any sense to call it "proportioning valve". The creature living just in front of the rear axle, according to this book, seems to be named "manifoldon" (aka manifold). Anyhow, I'll post it to the faq w/ pix when I work on it.
