Which Brake Pads to Buy? 900

Greetings,
I am having a hard time choosing a replacement brake pad. I don't know what the P.O. put on the car, but they are quite dusty. My front wheels get dirty fast.

Anyone care to offer me a suggestion based on their personal experience?

FCPGroton list 7 different brands/models with the Volvo ones being the most expensive. I heard Mintex ones are not as dusty.

Thanks in advance,
kkoch

OEM is probably made by Textar and are very dusty. I have had good results (braking ability and decreased dust) with PBR organics, PBR Metal Master and ceramic pads (on there now w/Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors), very nice combination but the ceramic pads look like they are wearing out the rotor faster than I would like.

    I vote PBR organic pads.

I put on a pair a year ago and ever since the front alloys stay just as clean as the rear. I've NEVER had that hapen with a Volvo before... using the OEM pads.

AND the PBR pads grip probably 15% or more better. Much more traction stopping.

p.s. I used Brembo rotors and didn't use any shims. No squeals.

I recently put a set of PBR ultimate ceramic pads on my 940 turbo. I've only had them on about a month and a half so I can't tell for sure about dust, but they appear to be less than the volvo ones that were on it, but the stopping...WHEW. these things are nice!

I had a terrible time trying to use bargain pads and in the end, my mechanic, who does a lot of work on my car...said that if you don't use volvo pads, you will experience quite a few problems...and i have found that to be true. Once i finally bit the bullet and put volvo pads on, the brakes were a dream. I have a 93 940 Wagon with 175k on it...fyi.

I plan on buying a set of their Axxis organic pads for $28.00, again. Dustless? No, but not as bad as Volvo pads.

Yeah, I've used the Deluxe pads a lot; lots less dust, quiet, $cheap!
Not so good under extreme braking(as good as OEM), but more than adequate for street use.
PBR or Axxis Deluxe. Look at FCP Groton.

P.S.: Never even tried an OEM pad; never had a problem in other than extreme use(track, towing in the mountains).

If Towing Ability is Needed? 900

What are good pads if you are towing?

        Six Volvos: all wagons.... 1972 145S, 1976 245 DL, 1983 245 GL, 1986 740 GLE, 1990 740 GL, now a 1995 940. Number 7 (a 1967 122S Wagon) is on the way.... Who needs a sedan, when you've got storage compartments in a wagon?
