Crankshaft gear all the same 1982-1995? 900 1994

I ordered a crankshaft gear (not the pulley/harmonic balancer)from volvopartsonline.com. Afterwards I began thinking about the change in timing belts from square to round tooth (or is it the other way around?) that ocurred in 1993(?) or so. Does this change mean that the gears changed also? I just checked and volvopartsonline has the same part number for the gear from early 1980's to 1995. Will this be a problem?

Thanks.

I thought the change from square to round was in ’93 to ’94. Yes, the teeth on the pulleys and the crank gear are different. (I did find a square tooth belt on a ’94 once.) (Butchers.) A bone yard is a great place to get the pulleys and crank gear. The same car, the same great mechanics, missed the notch when installing the crank pulley and smished the tab. The crank gear actually developed a small crack. I ended up getting one from Swedish Engineering.

Sounds like you will find out how clairvoyant is volvopartsonline. Bet they send you one with square teeth anyway.

They're different, all right; I looked at a couple of different places, and they, including FCP, stop at '92.
    It will be a problem.
