164 runs intermittently 140-160

I have a 1975 164 FI stick with intermittent run problems.Has IPD cam? Runs rich and then cranks but won't start.Starts if rolls down hill.Tried toad-pressure sensor off another car, no luck.Looked at by the old volvo shop in Seattle and Portland, no luck.Lots of new parts, injectors, points, etc.New relays on right fender,no luck.HELP PLEASE! Is it time for carbs? Anyone have manifold and parts? Thanx

Nice puzzle. If you really have an IPD cam, your timeing is probably off giving you a rich mixture. The fact that it will start rolling down hill but not by the starter suggests that the battery is under charged. My cold start wires were unplugged and it took 30 seconds to start my car until I found the problem. It helps to have clean plugs, too.

Get a bottle of FI cleaner, not carbs! FI is so much easier to maintain than carbs and makes for more bhp.

Have you checked the cold start injector to see if it squirts on start up. Also suggest you check the coolant temp sensor.
