Volvo 164 carpet 140-160

I am new to this board and enjoy reading the posts, but now I have a question. There is a factory carpet for sale on Ebay (auction 7967598473) and I am wondering if this may fit my 1974 144? Does the 164 have more leg room, which would make the carpet too big? It looks like it is in pretty good shape and it is the right color. Mine is really trashed and I need to replace it.

Does anyone know where you can get a new carpet for old Volvo's? Thanks

At first glance, I'd say that this isn't real factory original
carpet. The carpets that I've seen don't have the piping between
the transmission tunnel and the foot wells. It looks like a
reasonable quality aftermarket job but I wouldn't spend much
money without inspecting it in person, based on what I can see
    in the pictures.

I've gotten carpets from salvage yard cars and washed them with
a hose and simple green and gotten very very good results. There
are some different floor pan stampings so try to get one that is
    identical to yours.

The factory carpets are of a really high quality material and fit
perfectly. I've seen lots of carpets in volvos that aren't factory
original, usually made out of flat pieces sewn together, and the
    results are at best marginal.

Unless there are large holes in your carpets, I'd try to refurbish
the ones you've got. Otherwise, try to find some factory carpets
in okay condition and clean those.

I'd love to find out if there was a source of original molded
carpets for these cars -- that would be the perfect solution.

Thanks for the replies and the phone number.

I have no doubt that it is the original carpet because it looks just like mine, including the piping and the texture. I am the original owner of my 144 so I know it has never been changed.

What I was wondering though is if someone knows whether or not the carpet from a 164 would possibly fit the 144. I thought the 164 had a little more leg room in the back

I put the carpet from a '72 164 into my '70 145 and it fit pretty well. However, the fit over the transmission tunnel was not the same. The '72 has the short shifter and taller transmission tunnel while my '70 has the long shifter and a lower tunnel. The tunnel was the only area where the fit was not perfect.

I think you would be ok, I believe the cabin dimensions for the 140 and 160 series are the same. And if you are swapping between cars with similar tunnels, you're in good shape!
