is this where camshaft goes? 120-130

Does anybody know what is installed on other side of area where yellow arrow is pointing? I'm guessing it's the camshaft, but not sure...I'm assuming that a seal washer is supposed to cover up this area.

Holy Crud... Your cam has holes in it!!!! Send it and the lifters to me for proper disposal... please label the lifters so they do'nt get mixed up ... cam disposal is very tricky and must be done in the proper order!!

    Just trying to help!

please take my engine parts 120-130

Thanks for your help Mike, what would I do without you?

In addition to the hole filled camshaft, I also have a completely rebuilt, never started B20 engine with a bunch of unused, mysterious bolt holes driled into it. That can't be right, can you take it off my hands? Should be getting all that $$ from the Nigerian prince any day now, and will then be able to afford the shipping to you.

        Always glad to help, man!

Is it a B model you are building? My B is on the engine stand right now, but the freshly B18D that came in my coupe, I just got, runs so nice, I figure I will go ahead and break it in a little while and then transplant the b20 and OD in a little ways down the road.

I got fender issues right now!

        Cheers!

        mike

You've got the pan off; why don't you look in there and see what it is??
And before you put the 42mm plug over the end of the cam, look at it and
see what letter is stamped in the end. It'll never be easier than now.
BTW, that's a very nice pic of a very clean engine. I would prime and paint
    it red before it rusts!

Hard to look inside engine these days, I took that photo about half a year ago. First time I ever took apart an engine, a bit intimidating in beginning, but not that difficult at all once I got going. Shop told me what order to disassemble parts, and off I went. Funfunfun.

Engine now assembled, painted, and installed. Although no letter was stamped on end of part, I ordered the 'D' cam so I'm assuming that's what was delivered!

Car should be ready for initial startup later this month. Can't wait, been close to 3 years since I drove it. Been a long time coming.

Onto your car... no camshaft info here... 120-130

I saw your car on saturday, and it's looking MIGHTY GOOD! So what's the story with the engine on it? I see you say D cam, but what are the other specifics about the build?

Kyle, don't have all my notes in front of me, so details lacking at moment. Some things I remember: In addition to the D cam, it's got a B20 F head, B20 B block, .030" head gasket, and 2.25" exhaust. Not sure what distributor I'll put on yet, have a few to choose from (no vacumn advance units unfortunately). Currently using a Weber DGV, though I'm sure I'll eventually go back to SU's.

Right on, sounds good! =D Do you have any plans to dyno the engine? Has the head or block been shaved/decked at all? Or is it all basically just a stock rebuild using the D cam and the B block and F head?

Without a freeze plug there oil will pour into the bellhousing from that rear cam bearing.

Once, many years ago, I rather ineptly popped the cam backwards while removing the cam gear from the front (engine in the car). i heard a rattle inside the bellhousing, and suddenly my little project got about twice as big. At least I had an opportunity to replace the clutch while I had everything apart.
