Is 'PBlaster' the same think as WD40 (NMI) 200

oh, but no!! that stuff puts WD-40 to shame! i posted a message the other day to another member about how i used it w/ much success, next to an industrial product called "kroil", in an orange spray can w/ black text on it, it is the only thing that works on stuff like exhaust manifold bolts that have never had a wrench put to them.i mean, they all "eat" metal, so to speak, but that PB Blaster is unreal! good luck, louis

Is 'PBlaster' the same think as WD40? N O NO NO NO (But...) 200

It is a good solvent. I use it to clean garden tools of minor rust. It is good for cleaning out the tube applicator on a can of "Great Stuff" making it useable if the entire can wasn't used up. It is good for removing the residual sticky stuff when peeling of the label from a glass peanut butter jar which I then use for storing small parts like those tiny light bulbs.

It is a poor penetrator, as other posts state. It is not a lubricant.

Life is easier when you use the right stuff.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

The brickboard introduced me to PB blaster and it is a great friend in the garage for rusty bolts. Since then my WD40 has been living a lonely shelf life.

Actually, I happen to think that fat girls are quite a bit sexier.

    No, but.... 200

As the other posters said, PB Blaster is the stuff for rusted/frozen nuts and bolts. It penetrates the rust seal and is in the threads faster than anything else I've used. Another product that works well is Kroil. Liquid Wrench works too, but for my money, PB Blaster is the best.

The uses for WD-40 are for primarily displacing water (for instance, inside the distributor cap and on the plug wires of a water-splashed engine), secondarily as a light oil for protecting metals from corrosion, keeping drill bits and saw blades cool while in use, as a lubricant while tapping threads, and in a pinch it will loosen decals enough to allow their removal. So it has valid uses. It just doesn't work especially well as a penetrant.

Definately not a good idea to spray WD-40 on plug wires. I had a cylinder go out on a rainy due to what I thought was water on the wires. I sprayed WD-40 on it, caught the motor and me on fire. Turned out the wires were getting bare and the WD-40 caught a spark.

Here's a question I can answer. PB blaster is a very potent lubricant/solvent that works to help loosen stuck fasteners. My experience is that it works quite well and if fairly cheap. They sell it at Wal mart and most of the auto shops.

If you have a job involving disassembly of rusted parts, or parts that have not been disassembled in ages, this is the stuff. It works for me.

    NO! A million times NO!.
WD40 is 'water displacement 40'. It will not do the same penetration of metal spaces as PB Blaster.
Save yourself some grief, give up the WD40. Let the other 'uneducated' mechanics use WD40.
    Ask me how I know.

So you judge a mechanic by wether or not he uses WD or PB? I judge a mechanic if he sprays either and then waits three days to see if it works. REal mechanics use heat to loosen tight stuff as they don't have three days to sit around and watch.
