Replaced voltage regulator, now confused 200 1986

Thanks to everyone who recommended that I change the voltage regulator on my 245. The brushes on the old one were worn down to little nubs, so I'm pretty sure that was the problem. I also put a new battery in and fully charged it overnight. I went to bed last night quite proud of myself, but when I started the car this a.m. all the warning lights stayed on strong (battery, brake failure, parking brake, light failure). I checked all the connections, and nothing seemed out of place. Any suggestions?

"all the warning lights stayed on strong (battery, brake failure, parking brake, light failure). "
If the warning lights are on then the ground and red wire are hooked up as the light shows the circuit is complete.

Perhaps the brushes need to seat themselves? Ie. rev the engine a few times and see if light goes out.

Be sure the small red wire and the black ground wires are connected at the alternator. If either are not connected, the alternator will not charge and the warning lights will be on. The black ground wire is often missed since it is sort of hidden.

Neither one of these wires hook up to the screws that held the voltage regulator, right?

There will be a smaller red wire with a female connector,
That goes up by the top of the alt.
And a blue or black wire with a ring connector on it, connect
that to the screw on post down by the bottom of the alt.

Thanks; that's the way I had it hooked up. I pulled the voltage regulator to check if the brushes were wearing appropriately, and they were. I promptly broke one of the brushes putting it back in, so I'm back to square one.
