Tach and MSD 5 box 120-130

Hi. Info for the next guy/lady putting a MSD 5 into his/her car:

Some time ago I put a MSD 5 ignition unit into my 121 (B18A engine). As expected, the car run great but the tachometer (a oem cheap unit) go dancing like a mad dog under 3000 rpm.

Last week I move the tach sensing wire from the coil (-) post to the distributor post (now I´ve a "Y", come from the distributor, one side goes to the white wire of the MSD 5, another to the tach).

It cures the tach dancing.

Happy volving

Yes, that's the exact good solution. Some tach manufacturers (Autometer, for one) consider the warranty void if you connect to the output of the MSD box. I don't see any problem connecting it to the input -- the signal that used to drive the coil and tach then drives the MSD box and tach, and it's still the same signal.
