Transmission disengaging 200 1983

Hey guys,
Having a weird problem with my 240. On cold start i can reverse it out of the garage and then drive it up the driveway and come to a complete stop at the edge of the street. When i try and pull out, it seems like the car has gone into Nuteral and just revvs without any power going to the weels. Ive noticed this on different locations so its not geographical and intrestingly only happens one time on cold start - doesn't happen when the engine is warm.

It usually reingages after a period of time then im good to go, but does anyone know what im talking about ???

Cheers

A transmission flush and re-fill would probably help. Don't run it low on fluid very long, or it won't run very long.

I would go along with the low trans fluid but depending on the miles on the transmission it could be trying to die and this could be an early symptom ---try the fluid top off if that works breath easy!!

Symptom of low fluid level. Fluid expands with heat.

Thanks heaps guys, im breathing easy now - only prob is that when i check the dipstick it reads pretty much full - although i dont warm the engine up and work the trans which is prob what i should do.

Also, where can i fill it up with trans fluid? straight down the dipstick pipe ? seems typa hard
