Armrest installation 200

I bought an armrest off of e-bay. It is not like the regular ones you see (4" of foam, two bars on the back for install) it is the thinner one with the cup holders that pull out. It has two approx 8" X 51/2" steel plates down the side that flange on the bottom for installation (4 holes)

My question is: if I drill 4 holes in the bottom of the interior below the handbrake to install this gizmo, will I have problems hitting the driveshaft?

thanxcobyfrombrooklyn

Did you get the brace theat goes under the center console? It sounds like one of the late style armrest/cupholders that used a 740 style top with front and rear cup holders, they require a brace that is attached to the tunnel by a large bolt, the brace fits under the console and provides support to the upper bracket which screws into the brace through the top of the console.
If my description doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to get a pic of the one I have here and post it.

No I didn;t get any brace.
So your saying that I need a brace to install this? Could I get this on an OEM site? Yes a pic would be great. Thanx for your help.

I hope I'm wrong, there are other armrests out there that have cupholders like the Husco unit but if it looks like this one.

then you are missing the lower brace. I've seen several of these on ebay and only 2 came complete. Re reading your post makes me think that you may have yet another style. I hope that's the case.

I found it on Husco and have sent them am email about installation.
Here is a schematic. I didn't notice any holes in the bottom of the emergency brake housing.

Your right - I do have the husco unit- it looks nothing like your pic and I don;t have the pic anymore - I'll borrow a digital camera, take a shot and post it. We can possibly go from there.

and thanx

Ahhh, every so often I'm really glad to be wrong ;-) Glad you got one you can use. In answer to your original question you should be fine if you don't use 2" screws to mount it, just use ones that are long enough to get through the steel floor, 1/2"-3/4"
Cheers
