I recently had my 87 745 for sale on Ebay, the winning bidder backed out but the bid went up to $785 USD. I'm going to relist, but may offer a buy it now option. The car is in good shape, runs good, but needs the usual TLC for its age. My question is what is a fair price to ask for an outright purchase?

I bought my 765t wagon on eBay. It's also an 87, in approximately equivalent condition, but 150K miles. I got it for $500, which I felt very lucky about. Your wheels and interior are better than mine (I have the leather interior, but prefer cloth). I'd say 750 to 1000 is a fair price, somewhat depending on that oil leak -- if you could find it, that would help!

I am not going to be much help as I don't think I would buy this car.

Reasons:

Oil leak (location unknown) - probably from distributor or rear main seal - at least $150 up to $1000 to get fixed.

droopy headliner $75 in materials and a full day to fix

rear pass. taillight - $50 used

rear wiper is not functioning - motor $30 used?

front wipers sometimes cut out - just a PIA to track down

probably needs shocks - $300-$500 and a full day's labor

emergency brake is non - functioning bound cable? $30 and a PIA to replace

rear hatch lock is broken - as in won't lock or won't open?

Rust!!!

~200,000 miles


I would try $750 buy it now and see what happens.

A fair apraisal and $750 is about what I'd be satisfied with.
