I remember I pinched the seal on the by-pass tube last time I replaced the water pump. Do I place the seal on the tube then add the pump or place the seal in the pump the connect it to the tube?

    I place the seal on the steel tube and grease the socket it goes into in the back of the waterpump. Then I also grease the top waterpump seal, to prevent either of these seals from folding over during installation.

    Take a little emery cloth and make sure that the tube is extra extra clean, put the seal on the tube, put some kind of silicone lube on it, put a little RTV silicone in the hole on the water pump and slide it together.
